How do you recognize an asthma attack?

2022-07-28
1) Ask about his/her illness

When the patient suddenly presents with difficulty breathing, cough, chest tightness, shortness of breath, incoherent speech, pallor or cyanosis, the patient is first asked if he or she has a history of asthma.

2) Check his/her body

As the patient breathes in, the supraclavicular fossa, supraclavicular fossa, and intercostal space are examined for significant depressions.

If airway obstruction is further aggravated, chest enlargement, tachycardia, decreased blood pressure, restlessness, disturbance of consciousness and so on May occur.  If this happens, it is likely to be an asthma attack.
