How to use a blood pressure monitor

2022-03-10
Different sphygmomanometers are used in different ways. Let's first talk about the use of electronic sphygmomanometers.
1. You can go to the toilet 20 minutes before measuring your blood pressure. Holding back your urine will affect your blood pressure. After that, to maintain a peaceful mind, you can do some actions to relieve tension, such as deep breathing.
2. Exhaust the air from the electronic sphygmomanometer cuff, tie it to the arm, and keep it at the same level as the heart. It is also necessary to pay attention to the direct contact of the cuff with the skin as much as possible, and do not separate the clothes of the queen mother.
3. After knowing the specific measurement time of the purchased electronic sphygmomanometer, open the start button of the electronic sphygmomanometer to measure.
4. During the measurement process, relax the arm, open the palm, and do not make a fist. Measure again after an interval of 3-5 minutes, and take the average value as the measurement result. The best time to measure is 1 hour after getting up or 1 hour before going to bed.
When using an electronic sphygmomanometer, pay attention to measuring several times to avoid errors. Furthermore, it can be judged whether the electronic sphygmomanometer is good or bad by measuring several times. If the blood pressure value is very different before and after, it means that the electronic sphygmomanometer has been damaged, and the measured results are also unreliable.
Let's take a look at how to use the mercury sphygmomanometer.
1. Pay attention to keeping the blood pressure monitor on the same level as the arm and the heart.
2. Turn on the sphygmomanometer so that the mercury column reading drops to zero. Exhaust the air in the sphygmomanometer cuff and place it 2-3 cm above the elbow joint of the arm. It is recommended to choose the left arm for measurement, because the left arm is close to the heart, and the relative measurement data is relatively stable.
3. Tie the air cuff (do not tie it too tightly or too loosely). After feeling the pulse of the brachial artery on the inside of the cubital fossa, place the stethoscope on the brachial artery and tighten the air valve on the air cuff. Quickly pump up the pressure. When inflating, the measurer should look at the mercury column of the sphygmomanometer (note that the line of sight and the scale should be kept at the same level as possible).
4. Unscrew the air valve to make the mercury drop slowly. When you hear the sound of the first pulse beat, the reading displayed at this time is the systolic blood pressure value. Continue to listen while deflating, until at a certain blood pressure scale, the pulse sound becomes weak or even disappears, and the displayed blood pressure is diastolic blood pressure. The subject should remain calm before the measurement. After the measurement, the re-measurement should be performed at least 1 to 2 minutes later. The average value of the two measurements was selected as the measured blood pressure value.

When using a mercury sphygmomanometer, you need to pay attention to putting it away to avoid accidents caused by mercury outflow. If there is a problem with the sphygmomanometer, it needs to be sent to a professional department for repair.
